BACK TO THE WATER

Fabergé's escape to Dune Island proves an empty victory; he cannot man the stolen pirate's ship alone, and to truly save himself, he must form a mutually beneficial agreement with those few back on Heligoland not yet infected. But - ! Their plans to set sail are resolutely dashed by the fire of Napoleon's cannon, and the disease-ridden San Miguel nonetheless ventures to the source of the plague to find a cure. Elsewhere, the Spiritualists witness Kylaa's final unravelling after the death of Hanna and her stillborn child. Denouncing their shared faith, she is swept up by the waves and spirited away on the back of a prehistoric turtle ...

Whose fanaticism is steeped in true virtue, that of the Spiritualists or the Rationalists? It is of consequence to neither Fabergé nor Napoleon, both helplessly isolated; Kylaa nor Lex, both unhinged by faltering faith; nor Rogina and her new community, safely nestled on ...nearby Dune Island. But as a deadly sickness spreads across Heligoland, these differences will invariably give way as all are bound to share the most fundamental of concerns...
